Hollywood Hates Joss Whedon

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (unsuccesssful movie version)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (unsuccessful movie version)

So a few minutes ago I was enjoying my weekly Monday activity of listening to a live broadcast of the /filmcast when the editor of /Film, Peter Sciretta, casually made an offhand remark regarding news he had just received about a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer film being made. I, being the realistic person that I am, immediately prepared myself for the worse but then I spoke to a few of my more optimistic friends. They convinced me that with Joss Whedon (a mugshow hero) involved, nothing horrible could happen. After the /filmcast stopped broadcasting however, Peter Sciretta told the other members of the podcast crew that Joss Whedon would not, infact, be involved. The members of the show expressed confusion at the idea of Hollywood remaking an unsuccessful movie to please the cult-like fan base of a television show but surely their doubts will not be heard. I know this should not bother me so much… but seriously, my night is ruined.

I predict that they have not learned from this, the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie from 1992:

Yuck.
