
Not wanting to release that “CGI animals doing human things” niche, Pixar has announced the newest in the line of thier blockbusters: ‘Phants.
‘Phants will be directed by both John Lasseter and Joe Ranft, of “Cars” fame. This will mark the eight Disney/Pixar feature film. Set in Africa, the film will follow the life of Bumbum (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson), a tiny elephant with a unique feature: He’s BLUE and wants to be a singer on broadway. The movie will show Bumbum as he tries to overcome being different from his heard and his aspiring dreams, much to the dismay of the Elephant Council (voiced by Christopher Walken). The movie will feature many overtones such as family and acceptance, and even feature Pinko, the love intrest of the film (voiced by Danica Patrick). Most importantly, the movie is planned to be an,” analogy of the hardships of the African American male homosexual in modern society.” says Lasseter. The movie will also feature voices by Luke Wilson, Helen Hunt, Cheech Marin, Jenifer Lewis, Tony Shalhoub, John Ratzenberger, Bobcat Golthwaite and Michael Keaton as well as voice cameos by several celebrities including, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bob Costas, Darrell Waltrip, Michael Bay, and Michael Schumacher.
