Apple sues HTC

Apple sues HTC

HTC, Apple, Lawsuit, Patents

HTC released the Nexus One and placed phones in the market that could potentially be a good competitor against Apple. However, for the first few phones that HTC released to compete the iPhone was still on top. But what does Apple do when competition gets stronger? Sue.

Yes, you read it right. Apple is suing HTC for breaking 20 iPhone patents. Steve Jobs released the following statement when asked about this lawsuit:

We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it…We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.

Hmm…  sore losers perhaps? I don’t know, but what it seems to be that way because there are so many products out there that “act” like iPods, iPhones, etc but yet you don’t see Apple suing them.  Unless they are suing them and this just happened to be a really BIG one. However, why do you think people “steal” their technology? When you submit a patent, that becomes a public document. Therefore, anyone can access it and all they have to do is change one part in order to not make it the same and still be safe. Maybe Apple should invest into having only Trade Secrets? Trade Secrets are just like the word says: Secrets. Only a select few people know about it and the rest of the world doesn’t.  Why do you think Coca-Cola is still in the top for best soda drink? Because their formula is a Trade Secret. No one can come near it and only two people know the formula.

What do you think? It seems to me that apple doesn’t like when people start gaining momentum. Do you think Apple should now just sue pretty much everyone else that stole the “MP3 iPod” Look?  Should Microsoft sue Apple for Muti-Touch? Why am I asking so many questions? Is the world going to end in 2012? (maybe?)
