A Thought on The Bachelorette

A Thought on The Bachelorette

One of our readers submitted this and I couldn’t agree more!!!!

I sat down and watched The Bachelorette last night with my mother. What I saw on the screen irritated me to the point I started thinking.

Is what the finding love in the world is today?  A woman setup with a group of twenty-five guys to fight over her love. At the same time, she seeks for her “Prince Charming”. Ali, The Bachelorette of ABC’s hit reality show, is/was dating anywhere from twenty to three guys at the same time.  It is a television show where a person seeks true love, but it’s all about emotional and mental games rather than finding love.  But, there is no way to truly connect or love someone without putting yourself out there with no safety net, giving everything to them, and holding back nothing. How can one ask for someone to give you their loyalty all the while dating others or seeking for better opportunities?

Ali discovered on one episode that one of the guys had a girlfriend at home. As a he walked away from her; she chased him down. She yelled and screamed at him about wasting her time. The sad point of the whole thing was she had ten other guys who in their ignorant state stood up to her. The bottom line is she has no loyalty to any of the guys, yet she demands it from them.

At one point in the show Ali told one of these fools fighting for her love, “It’s okay to fall in love and take a risk.” At this point I found myself screaming at my TV because it was an absurd statement for someone who was  risking virtually nothing. This woman had four other guys waiting at home for her. The risk is not the same no matter how she would like believe it to be. At the end of the week she would be sending one of her victim home.

This idea goes deeper than just the TV. It is the same in everywhere desperate people seeking companionship. Let’s just cast a net and see what we catch comes to mind. The truth is you are not doing any favors for yourself, but showing your true selfishness. If this is what you are doing be not surprised when you find candidates doing the same.

Wao! Powerful words, right? And they make sense!

Super simple, TV ratings. There has been a movement years back in television programing called 'reality shows'. In their escence they were suppose to present the other side of the coin of celebrities. Well they have created an addictive mind rotting gutt twisting no interest bearing monster. In years past I believed that televition had its dumb and dark days over, but now I truely believe the television can and will rotten your mind. Shame true shame. In terms of relationship matters…..ITS A TV SHOW ITS FIXED FOR ENTERTAINMENT (mindless mind you).

True, and it's sad that has happened. What happened to the good old scripted television? Shows with plots! With actors! Filled with action! FANTASY!, oh wait. I forgot that the currents reality tv shows are like that. =/

But you know what i mean. GOOD SCRIPTED TELEVISION! :P

I hear people talking about reality shows all the time at work and wonder “How do you all sit and find it entertaining?” I work with a bunch of women so drama comes with the job… Why would I go home to watch it? Mind you I don't watch much TV at all but I don't understand the mindset of people nowadays. Though they are just putting them out cause people watch them so I can't blame them for making more of them.

That's what I ask myself everyday. And you know these so called “Reality TV Stars” how much they are getting paid? Just today I heard that the people from Jersey Shore, a show in MTV, they are getting paid $45,000 per episode each one of them!! I mean!! WHAT?! Seriously? I want a reality tv show. I can do crap in from on a camera.. will that entertain you? APPARENTLY! haha
