Apple doesn’t want to budge in and admit that they are WRONG! In effect, this will hurt the company greatly.
You probably know by now about the “antenna issue” that the iPhone 4 has. (who doesn’t?). However, now it has became even more noticeable since Consumer Reports mentioned that they can’t recommend the iPhone because of the antenna issue and the also Gizmodo recorded videos proving that the iPhone 4 does have an antenna problem that needs to be fixed.
This also comes into the point that all phones do it. Yes MOST phones I think do it when you cover the antenna, however I tried covering my Touch Diamond and I couldn’t get the effect to happen. I simply didn’t loose any bars. However, what really hurt Apple was when Steve Jobs mentioned that people are just holding the phone wrong and they need to hold it differently. We covered that story here.
People believe that a recall should be in order for this phone in order to fix the issue and make the customers happy. Other’s believe that the “bumpers” should be given away for free, since it’s the “fix” for it. What do you think?
There are others, like Mashapple — I mean.. Mashable — that think that there shouldn’t be a recall to those phones and that Apple should not cave in to pressure. They make a comparison that if a Ford car were to have a faulty radio, Ford would not have to make a recall since it doesn’t affect the main functionality of the vehicle. Granted that may be true, but the truth is that the Antenna problem on the iPhone IS a problem that messes with the MAIN functionality of the iPhone. Let’s remember that the iPhone is a… well a Phone. Is not an iPod nor an iPad, though it has the same capabilities. The antenna issue is causing people to drop calls and to also loose the speed of their Data.
If you don’t believe me… here is the video that Consumer Reports posted proving the issue with the antenna:
