I know I know, a joke right? No! I’m not joking! This is actually real! There will be a “Titanic 2″ movie coming this August!!
Crazy huh? I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. If we couldn’t have enough by having James Cameron re-render Titanic in 3D and releasing it simultaneously with another viewing of Titanic (2D) in the upcoming years. However, this movie is not a sequel to the James Cameron flick. The movie is set on April 14, 2012 (100 Years after the first tragedy) and tells the tale of the construction of the “Titanic II” and its attempt to do the same voyage that the RMS Titanic would have done. However, this time the ship will make it to New York. Or…is it?
Basically this is “history repeating itself”, because the new Titanic suffers the same fate as the first one. An iceberg (could it be the same one from 1912?) strikes the ship causing it to sink and chaos, and all the stuff you know about the movie. The difference is that this time it looks super cliché and completely unoriginal.
My first impression with the trailer was the following: “Is this a joke?! If it is…is a really bad one.” If anything, this movie should be an insult to the family members of the first tragedy (ok maybe not to that extreme, but is pretty close). The movie looks horribly done and it doesn’t change anything of the story of the Titanic. I mean, is the “Titanic II” built for April 2012. Our technology has advanced quite a bit the past 100 years. I’m pretty sure we could spot an iceberg from a very safe distance. I guess the builders of this particular boat wanted the boat to sink down because it was going to be part of such a horrible movie…who could blame them?
