Yesterday we celebrated the 25th anniversary on one of the most popular action-adventure games of all time, The Legend of Zelda. It seems like just yesterday the first ever Legend of Zelda was released to the Japanese market. A game that created a cultural phenomenon and is still one of the top rated games of all time.
Now that 25 years have passed though, what awaits Link and Zelda for the next 25 years? Well, it seems that more Zelda games are in the process with the announcement of the Nintendo 3DS. One of the top games of all time and still one of my favorites: “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” will be re-released for the 3DS with enhanced graphics and of course 3D vision. However, it doesn’t stop there. “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening” will also be released for the 3DS featuring 3D effects.
Myamoto also announced that the Zelda team are working on other new titles for the franchise that will be released for the Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The game use the add-on of the Wii Motion Plus to enhance the game play and accuracy of the player with the character. No full release date has been announced, but its rumored for its released later on this year.
It seems Zelda will be busy for another 25 years and I hope that they don’t lose the quality of name and franchise Zelda. I don’t care if I have to save that princess 300 more times, as long as the story is compelling and the game play superb.
Happy Birthday Zelda!
Here is a little something to remember the one thing all of us Zelda fans are waiting for… a Zelda Movie (but a well done movie, not a crappy version…)
